Makanlah.com has graciously treated MalaysianFoodGuide.com to a eating session at Din Tai Fung, The Gardens. Din Tai Fung originated from Taipei, has once nominated as one of top ten best restaurants worldwide by The New York Times. Din Tai Fung main specialty is their distinct 18 folds steamed dumpling (xiao long bao).Today, Din Tai Fung has spread their wings to over 10 countries, and Malaysia is one of them. This is our first visit to this Taiwan restaurant, we ordered Combo C which included 6 steamed dumplings and 6 Steamed Vegetables and Pork ; one fried rice with shredded pork, one noodles with pork chop and one stir fried bean sprouts.

This is appetizer, sautee Japanese cucumber RM2.00.
I like this chili sauce, different from Malaysia version, nice aroma of pure chilies…
Xiao Long Bao RM8.00, can put whole dumpling into the mouth and it was really juicy, full of soup.
Another type of dumpling RM9.80, this one full of minced vegetables, no soup, dry…hmm…I prefer the steamed xiao long bao.
Sauteed seasonal greens – RM15. Normal taste, the good point is no msg, not too salty.
Fried rice with shredded pork RM12.50. People used to say in order to know the food of a restaurant, order their fried rice. Hmm…this one is nice, though simple ingredients, taste superb.
Pork Chop Mee soup RM14.00, rather plain but the pork chop is savory, both make a good combination with the soup.
Overall, the food here quite similar with typical Taiwan cuisine, no msg, not too heavy taste, suitable for those who look for healthy food
