Mangosteen adds colour to your health

Mangosteen, a purple coloured fruit, contain much higher antioxidants than fruits from Western countries, according to a former senior medical researcher at Institute of Medical Research - Dr Lim Ju Boo.

Fruits grown in tropical countries with lots of sun light, allowing the fruit plants to manufactured thousands of antioxidants in the form of carotenoids and phytochemicals. Where else in Western countries, the sun light came in at a slant and most of the ultraviolet rays were absorbed by the thick protective layer of the atmosphere. This make western countries fruits and plants produce less coloured protective phytochemicals.

So, the conclusion is ” Choose fruits and vegetables that are dark green, yellow, orange and red. The more colourful they are, the higher the antioxidants. ” :)
