There is a typical looking Japanese restaurant – Hokano, located in Damansara Uptown. It occupied only half of the shop (on the outside), few shops away from Maybank.
Hokano serves various Japanese food ranging from premium salmon teriyaki to assorted of sushi rolls. The main specialty is Hokano roll. The Hokano roll (RM16.95) comes in 8 pcs,the roll has prawn tempura, eel, crabstick, cucumber and avocado. The surface of the roll was garnished with orange colour fish roe. We started our dinner with chuka idako (fried baby squid) and sake.

Chuka Idako-RM7.00 I dare not try, but from my friends’ expression I know it was nice …

Beautifully presented Hokano roll. (9/10) -Must Try (as per menu)
Our main dishes consisted of Salmon Teriyaki, Rib Eye Steak and Tempura with Soba.

Salmon Teriyaki (9/10) – RM17.95
Do not mistake the size of this picture for its worth. The piece of salmon was quite big, as compared to others I have been to. What is remarkable about it is that, the way this salmon was cooked, is just so “juicy” (sorry mind my language) and every bite gives you that salmon smell, which not many people can appreciate. Oh ya, best eat with the outer skin layer…

Rib Eye Steak (8/10) – RM20.95
When you order this, you get the option of rare, medium rare or cooked… (not sure if I got the words correct, at least that is what I heard). I chose medium rare. Now what is special about this piece of rib eye is that it is cut in a way, if you do not chew or take your bite on the parallel side of the cutting, you will find it difficult to chew on. Apart from that, everything is great. Although I must say, the steak may not be as good as those cooked by European chefs.

Freshly fried crispy tempura – RM11.90. Come with soba soup. Nothing special…

Fried chicken with lemon – RM7.00. Quite similar to Ci=hinese version of lemon chicken.

Tofu Age – RM6.50
