Ever had this feeling that vegetarian food is oily? Or to some, it may even feel “unhealthy”. Yup, many of the so called vegetarian food we see cooked by hawker stalls are mostly made of oily fatty mushroom, and flour, which often are not as healthy as it should be. That is also one of the reason vegetarian food has been a big no no to me, until I came to VegeGreen.
VegeGreen Restaurant located at an isolated corner at the first floor in The Curve,Damansara,PJ. As its name suggests VegeGreen serves mainly organic vegetarian food.

Mix Fruits Special (in pot Mix Fruits Tea) – RM12.00 (Rating 9.5/10) (MUST TRY : THE SWEET SCENE OF THE FRUIT TEA can be traced from 2 meter away…comprising kiwi, orange, peach, apple, lime, and specially formulated tea in a tea bag (???))

Healthy unpolished brown rice – RM1.50 (Normal only)

Special Mix Beans – RM10.00 (Rating 8/10)

Fried Stemsweet – RM8.00 (Rating 8/10) Very plain, the way we liked it. You can taste the sweetness of the original flavour of the vegetable . The taste is not covered by oil or MSG .

Boil Lycium & Vege – RM10.00

Hot & Spicy Sour Soup – RM8.00 (Rating 8/10) Taste like shark fin soup. According to the waitress, a lady from China, this dish is ordered by many customers, sometimes only coming in for this dish alone. Not on their chief recommendation list, but probably on a customer recommendation list.

Fungus Vegetarian ‘Chicken’ – RM10.00 (Rating 8.5/10) Imagine your stomach being tricked to believe you had chicken for dinner, but you actually didn’t.

1Yup! The first time time I had vegetarian food, they were all so oily. The first impression deterred me from trying for a 2nd or 3rd. But Indian vegetarian is ok and I enjoy it a lot. I had vegetarian satay in Jln Tun Sambathan which costs RM1 per stick and they were very tasty. I guess you have to a little more for good vegetarian food
The Hot & Spicy Sour Soup is like what my mom used to make and I love it to bits. My sis and I call it “fake shark’s fin soup”. Hehe

3Durianberry: Yes, most of the vegetarian food are unhealthy and oily…this one is different, all food served here are fresh and healthy, no msg, no excessive oil…The ‘fake shark’s fin soup effect might be due to the thickening of the custord flour…
toniXe: Vegetarian food is just normal vegetables, various types of mushroom, beans, nuts and fruits…Go for vegetarian one in a week (at least) is good for our body especially our liver…Modern food has burdened our liver so hard…Liver need rest too
Cows nowaday no longer feed on grass…that’s the reason of mad cow disease, I think…

4Balance of salt and oil is perfect… far cry from the so-called vegetarian æ‚é¥ crap u get outside. Anyone who eats at ä¸å¤®å¤§åަ next to KLCC will know what I’m talking about.
The rendang potatoes are deliciously pulpy, sort of like KFC mashed potatoes, except that these aren’t mashed, rather they are cooked until like that. Niccccccce……
