Pull noodles (ramen in Japanese version and la mian-拉 é¢ in Mandarin version) is very common in mainland China. Almost every household in China, has someone who knows how to make la mian. However, it is really rare to find in Malaysia especially one which is so delicious and tasty, and the price is so cheap too. I was so delighted when I saw a la mian stall in Medan Selera Happy City -food court in Kepong. Of course you don’t want to order la mian from any tom, dick or harry. I checked her out. She is from China!
Once you make an order, she will start making the la mian. Once it arrives, the first thing you will notice, your la mian come with some funny looking chillies. This goes the same for your jiao zi (accompanied by ginger slice and vinegar sauce)
Once you put the la mian in your mouth you will notice the difference in the texture of the noodle. You can’t find this in Malaysia. It’s smooth and soft. On top of that, it’s cooked with a soup base which is carefully mixed to excite your taste bud, making you wanting for more. Notice there is vegetable and pork slices. The pork is also cooked with herbs before they are mixed into the la mian. But you don’t have to worry, this definitely doesn’t taste like the herb drinks your mum makes.
. My rating for this is 9out of 10. Hands down to the lady.

La Mian in soup with special chilies sauce (hot)- RM4.00. La Mian tastes better than Dragon I (One Utama) and One Noodle (SS2).

The other specialties are dumplings (jiao zi). Jiao Zi (8 dumplings) in soup – RM4.00

To eat jiao zi, try it my way. First, pick up the jiao zi with the soup sppon. Then put the ginger slices (above). Then pour some of the vinegar on top of the jiao zi. Put the jiao zi in your mouth and chew! You will feel like ascending to Mountain Everest…. inexpressible feeling of content and happiness!

Pork stomach soup with la mian or rice – RM4.50.
This pork stomach soup is cooked with China style, which is cooked unlike Malaysian’s style (with black pepper). If you fancy pork stomach, this is definitely something different for a change. The pork stomach expresses a heavy scent of Chinese parsely.
Right opposite the la mian stall, there is another stall operated by a couple from Shanghai. The Shanghai stall sells fish dumpling (上 æµ· æ²™ 县 æ‰ è‚‰ ),peanut noodles(花 生 ä¼´ é¢) ,soup pastry(é”… è¾¹ 糊). We shall back with our findings about them next time.
