malay traditional food

This pack of onde -onde is RM1.60,from One Utama.

Onde-onde is a type of traditional snack (kuih-muih) for Malays. The traditional onde-onde is green in colour with gula melaka filling.I like onde-onde because it is yummy and easy to make. The key points of good onde-onde are the nice fragrant of the pandan leaves and the thickness aroma of the gula melaka. For me, more gula melaka mean yummier…:)

Onde-onde are sold at pasar malam (night market) or stall in shopping complex.

Can get onde-onde? You can always make it on your own.

If dough is too stiff, add a little water; if it is too wet, add a little glutinous flour.
Divide dough into 20 small pieces and form lime-size balls.
Now, let’s start making the onde-onde
Flatten each piece on your palm.
Put a cube of gula melaka in the centre, wrap it up.
You have to wrap up carefully so the filling won’t leak when bring to boil.
Drop the onde-onde into boiling water.
